final work

finally^^ i completed my assignment 3..this is my poster looks like. it's just a simple poster but i really hope that it will give positve effects to all people to be a better human beings by protecting the trees. one of the ways to prevent deforestation is reforestation. reforestation is replanting a previously wooded area that has been felled. together we replant the trees and supports from all people around the world will save the world of the future generation. my idea of the two children replanting the young tree is to bring awareness to all human beings that we should be responsible for the future generation. the idea of reforestation is to help reduce the effect of global warming. the slogan that i get for this poster, 'reforestation is life' means as we replant the trees, in future it will grow and supply more oxygen to human beings. therefore, our future will have enough oxygen supply meaning reforestation brings life for future generation. i think thats all i can say about my thoughts of the idea creating this poster. lastly, here are the wisdom that i found ' do not ask what the earth can do for you, but what you can do for the earth'.

step 12

step 12: final step, i put my symbol from assignment 1 below on right-hand conner. i also stated a 'statement' which is 'save the trees..stop deforestation..think for the future' with type tool(T) in white colour with 'courier new' font in bold and size of 29.36 pt.

step 11

step 11: i applied gradient for the trees and also the trunk where we can see it like the sun light brights on the left side.

step 10

step 10: this the first time i'm applying gradient on my work. i edited some part on the sky layer and the ground layer so that it looks more real. as u can see the sky layer is a bit different from the sky layer in step 8. while the ground layer is a lot more different than ground layer in step 8. i applied symbols which are the grass from the symbols box. i resized it so that the image can be fit in.

step 9

step 9: i created the cloud by using ellipse tool(L) from a circle with white colour then i duplicated it and resized to be smaller with selection tool(V). i also write a task 'reforestaton is life' with type tool (T). i typed it with different types of font. the 'resforestation' i used forte font with the size of 114.1 pt and filled in with 'scribble' from graphic style tool. while 'is' i used 'viner hand itc' font with the size of 68.69 pt in yellow colour C=5, M=0, Y=90, K=0 for fill(X) and the stroke(X) of black colour C=0, M=0, Y=0, K=100. lastly, the word 'life' i used curlz mt as the font with the size of 94.54 pt and the fill(X) dark green colour of C=90, M=30, K=95, K=30 while the stroke(X) light green colour of C=50, M=0, Y=100, K=0.

step 8

step 8: i filled in the sky layer with light blue colour of C=30, M=0, Y=10, K=0by using pen tool(P). i did the same thing as in step 7 that is i selected all the trees with selection tool(V) then i arrange it to bring it in front of the sky layer.

step 7

step 7: i filled the ground layer with grass colour C=20, M=0, Y=100, K=0 by using pen tool(P). i selected all the trees by using selection tool(V) and i right clicked then, i click 'arrange' button next, i clicked 'sent front' button so that the trees will appear over the ground layer.

step 6: i draw the shape of the boy's whole set of body by using ellipse tool(L). i created the boy's hand using ellipse tool(L) and also with wrap tool(Sift+R) so that the hand will look no stiff. this method i also used to created the girl's hand and also body with her legs. the colour of the boy's body is blue C=85, M=50, Y=0, K=0 and the colour of the hand and legs is the same as the skin face colour. while the colour of the girl's shoes is C=15, M=100, Y=90, K=10.

step 5

step 5: i draw the body of the girl by using ellipse tool(L) with fill(X) of pink colour C=0, M=100, Y=100, K=0. while the girl's hand i also used ellipse tool(L) with peach colour C=0, M=35, Y=85, K=0. the young tree i created by using paint brush tool (B) with the size of 3 pt. round with three types of grey colour. light grey C=25, M=25, Y=40,K=0. Grey C=40, M=45, Y=50, K=5. Lastly, dark grey C=50, M=50, Y=60, K=25.

step 4

step 4: i created two heads of children by using ellipse tool(L). then, i filled it with peach colour C=0, M=35, Y=85, K=0 as the skin faces. while the girl's hair i used yellow colour C=5, M=0, Y=90, K=0 and boy's hair i used brown colour C=16, M=87, Y=100, K=50. the chidren's eye and mouth i used brush tool (B) with the black colour stroke (X).

step 3

step 3: i duplicated the image into four images. i resized the image to be smaller than the original image. while, the original image is in the middle as the main tree.

step 2

step 2: i filled the leave and the trunk with green colour of C=75, M=0, Y=100, K=0 and brown colour of C=40, M=70, Y=100, K=50.

step 1

step 1: i draw the outline of a tree by using pen tools(P).

rough sketch

this is my sketch for computer graphic assignment 3 that is a poster. it's just a rough sketch and i'll do better in adobe illustrator. the title for this poster is 'Reforestation is Life'. as i mentioned on the other blog about the meanings of reforestation. therefore, i've decided to do a poster about reforestation so that everyone will start restoring and recreating areas of woodlands or forest that once existed but were deforested.

reforestation

Reforestation is the restocking of existing forests and woodlands which have been depleted, with native tree stock. The term reforestation can also refer to afforestation, the process of restoring and recreating areas of woodlands or forest that once existed but were deforested or otherwise removed or destroyed at some point in the past. The resulting forest can provide both ecosystem and resource benefits and has the potential to become a major carbon sink.

how to prevent deforestation

Deforestation is the act of converting patches of forests to become areas of residence or industry. More and more businessmen are pushing through forests to obtain more land. Environment is sacrificed in exchange for profit. And this is a highly disturbing fact.

As an individual or as a part of the global community, you can do something to help prevent deforestation. Maybe you can't fight off illegal loggers with your bear hands but with some basic ways, you can make a difference—no matter how small. Here's a list:

1. If deforestation is a negative event, then a positive event should take place to counter its effects—reforestation. Plant trees and begin doing this in your yard. Trees give off oxygen that is essential for human existence and they, in turn, capture the carbon dioxide that humans and animals exhale. Trees also help in containing water in its roots. With this simple act, you are able to prevent soil erosion, which is the root cause of landslides!

2. Use recycled items such as books or pad paper, toilet paper, even shopping bags. If you can, do not waste any of these products so that no new raw material would be required to replace them.

3. If you are a farmer (or if you know someone who works as a farmer), try to rotate your crops. Instead of using a different portion of land each year, why not use the same portion with different crops? This practice also helps in maintaining the fertility of the soil. With the rotation of crops, not only is there a variety on the harvest each year, there is also the possibility of keeping that portion of land for as long as you can.

4. Cut down only the mature trees. Do not kill baby trees. And for every tree that is lost, plant another one as a replacement.

5. Join environmental awareness groups that would help you be an advocate of reforestation. In Washington, specifically in the Washington Middle School, there was a group of students that established a service-learning project. In their project, they asked a penny from each person. They explained that this money would help in buying acres of the rainforest in Amazon. Once this pushes through, no deforestation could take place in that purchased area.

6. There is a report that in Indonesia and Malaysia, more and more trees are cut down to produce palm oil. This massive destruction in the forests of both countries resulted into the loss of habitat for the native orangutans. With the loss of more trees, more animals become homeless. You can't help prevent this altogether but you can limit your consumption of products that contain palm oil such as breads, chocolates, and even some cosmetics such as shampoo, soap or toothpaste. As to your food consumption, you can begin a diet of roasted or boiled foods instead of frying them.

7. Instead of using firewood, use coals to heat up your fireplaces during the winter season. Remember that it takes only a few hours to consume the firewood but it would take years to grow a single tree. Think twice before purchasing firewood again.

8. Support the laws or programs that were made to protect the forests and to stop any form of deforestation. Programs such as the Tropical Forestry Action Plan have done a major difference on the way deforestation is looked at today. This program spearheaded the discussion of tropical deforestation.

final work

this is my final work that i have done for two days. its not too pretty but i kindly enjoyed doing it.

final step

final step: i have done the work but, one thing is i copied the symbol of deforestation that i created for computer graphics assignmnet 1 and i pasted it by resizes it to small size.

step 10

step 10: i draw the shadow by using pen tool(P) of size 2pt. oval with green colour of C=46, M=0, Y= 95, K=1.

step 9

step 9: i filled in the background with light blue colour of C=30, M=0, Y= 10, K= 0 as the colour of the sky with pen tool(P) and paint brush tool(B).

step 8

step 8: i filled the grass part fully by using pen tool(P) and paint brush tool(B) with light green colour of C= 30, M= 0, Y= 95, K= 0.

step 7

step 7: i draw the outline of the grass part with light green colour by using pen tool(P) with light green in fill(X) C= 30, M= 0, Y= 95, K= 0 and black colour in stroke(X).

step 6

step 6: i darken all the outlines by using pen tool(P) with black colour of K=100 and with size of 7 pt. round.

step 5

step 5: i filled in the inner part of leaves with dark green colour of C= 72.86, M=8.57 , Y= 85.71, K= 22.86 by using paint brush tool(B) with 7 pt. round sizes. i draw lines of the grain of wood by using paint brush tool (B) of size with fill(X) of dark brown colour of C= 50, M= 70 , Y= 80 , K= 70 and storke(X) of black colour of K=100%.

step 4

step 4: i filled the leaves part with green colour of C= 75, M= 0, Y= 100, K= 0 by using paint brush (B) of size 7 pt. round.

step 3

step 3: i draw the oulines of the leaves with pen tool(P). i set the 'fill(X)' with green colour of C= 75, M= 0, Y= 100, K= 0. and the 'stroke(X)' with black colour of K= 100.

step 2

step 2: i draw the outlines by using pen tool(P) for the trunk outlines. i set the fill(X) with brown colour of C=40 , M=65 , Y=90 , K=35 , and the stroke(X) with black colour of K=100.

step 1

step 1: i placed the sketch in a new file of adobe illustrator so that, i can trace the image exactly the same. i clicked the 'file button' then click 'place button'. a 'place box appeared is to select the file of the sketch that i saved. after that, i stretched the image by pulling every each small square of the edge to make it fit in the page of an A3 size paper. later, i double clicked the 'layer 1' link then, then 'layer option' box appeared. i ticked the 'template' button and dimmed the images to 20 %.

my sketch

this is my sketch which i would do in adobe illustrator for computer graphic's assignment 2. i know the sketch is too simple and not so pretty but, i hope this sketch will change people's mind to care about nature. i really hope that we should be more responsible to protect the nature espeacialy trees. it is because trees give us lives which they supply oxygen to us. thus, we should love trees and save the trees from deforestation.

the meanings of this symbol

this symbol bring a meanings to people in this world. as i said in the first post, i chose deforestation as the main topic of global warming and the symbol is a tree. Actually is not only a tree, it's more than a tree.

i designed the trunk differently because the trunk is a symbol of a hands holding or protecting a root which will grow into a tree. hence, the tree will supply oxygen and life to us. if trees really not exist in this world, how are we going to live? where can we get oxygen to breathe? can you imagine in future, there is no trees and beset with the city. could us live in such conditions?

while the leaves is a symbol of humans life. each leaf is the symbol of human life. if one leaf fall cause a human life perishing. so, imagine if one tree is cutting down will sacrifice humans life with total large. that is not include other life such as animals life. we fit avoid from important trait oneself. we should concern about the wild life accommodation if tree felling happened rampantly. therefore, the leaves brings a symbol of humans and wild living life.
i chose dark green colour( C=50, M=0, Y=100, K=0) as for the trunk because dark green colour is associated with ambition, greed, and jealousy. dark green is the symbol of human nature or human qualities.hence, humans have different kinds of charcter such as some people are concern about deforestation and some people are in the opposite way. in this world, there are some people who have the ambition to stop deforestation and some people are greedy want to own one area such as wide forest for developmant without think the impact in the future.
futhermore, i chose light green colour(C=20, M=0, Y=100, K=0) as for the leaves because it shows harmony and freshness. by the way, green colour is the colour of nature. It symbolize growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. green also has strong emotinal coresspondance with safety. thus, light green has great healing power. it is the most restful colour for the human eye.
moreover, i used yellow colour(C=5, M=0, Y=90, K=0) as for the outlines of the leaves. yellow is the colour of sunshine. it associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. thus, the outlines of the leaves in yellow colours shows that people will live in joy and happiness. without the leaves human will not have energy or oxygen to accomplish the task diurnal.

i create this symbol is to encourage people to save the trees and stop deforestation. we should realize that the trees are now increasingly delete from time to time. we should stop cutting trees, wildfire, and more. aren't we scared if flash flood happens somewhere near to our homes? aren't we scared if the temperature increases and cause us skin cancer? thus, we should practise nature recycling so that, we can save the trees and avoid deforestation.

final step

step 5: i draw the outlines for the leaves part by using pencil tool(N) with 7 pt. Round sizes in yellow colour( C=5, M=0, Y=90, K=0) to make it more attractive. On the other side for trunk part, i draw the outlines by using pencil tool(N) with 7 pt. Round size also with dark green colour(C=85, M=10, Y=100, K=10)to make it more darker.

step 4

step 4: i painted the leaves by using paintbrush tool(B) with 7 pt. Round sizes.

step 3

step 3: i painted the trunk using paintbrush tool(B) with 7 pt. Round.

Saturday, July 19, 2008

step 2

step 2: the trunk, i draw the outlines by using pencil tool(N) with green colour. while, the leaves i use arc tool from line segment tool(\) box to draw the outlines with light green colour.

step 1

step 1: i place my sketch on a new file. then, i unlock the toggles visibility to stretched out the image to fit it into A3 size. i click the layer options and tick the dim images box to 30%. next, i lock the toggles visibility so that, the sketches won't move.

deforestation

my sketches

i have decided to choose this sketch as the symbol of my main topic that is deforestation. even though, it looks too simple but there is a meanings behind this symbol.

this are my sketches(O_o). not 'perfect' but 'simple'(^_^). well, i chose a tree as my symbol for global warming because my main topic is deforestation. deforestation is one of the causes of global warming. i got this ideas from some pictures that i found in photobucket.com. so, i try to make it more simple and nice to be view.

deforestation

The process of destroying a forest and replacing it with something else. The term is used today to refer to the destruction of forests by human beings and their replacement by agricultural systems. Moreover, thecutting down and removal of all or most of the trees in a forested area. Deforestation can erode soils, contribute to desertification and the pollution of waterways, and decrease biodiversity through the destruction of habitat.

causes

There are many causes, ranging from slow forest degradation to sudden and catastrophic clearcutting, slash-and-burn, urban development, acid rain, and wildfires. Deforestation can be the result of the deliberate removal of forest cover for agriculture or urban development, or it can be a consequence of grazing animals, primarily for agriculture. In addition to the direct effects brought about by forest removal, indirect effects caused by edge effects and habitat fragmentation can greatly magnify the effects of deforestation.
While
tropical rainforest deforestation has attracted most attention, tropical dry forests are being lost at a substantially higher rate, primarily as an outcome of slash-and-burn techniques used by shifting cultivators. Generally loss of biodiversity is highly correlated with deforestation.

effects

generally, the removal or destruction of significant areas of forest cover has resulted in a degraded environment with reduced biodiversity. In many countries, massive deforestation is ongoing and is shaping climate and geography.
Deforestation affects the amount of water in the soil and groundwater and the moisture in the atmosphere. Forests support considerable
biodiversity, providing valuable habitat for wildlife; moreover, forests foster medicinal conservation and the recharge of aquifers. With forest biotopes being a major, irreplaceable source of new drugs (like taxol), deforestation can destroy genetic variations (such as crop resistance) irretrievably.
